First aid at work (HSE approved course)

This course covers the practical skills needed by a first aider in the modern workplace. The first aid at work course will give you the confidence and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.

Course duration

Three days. The course is usually offered as three consecutive days, however, we also offer it as a split course over several weeks.

Assessment and certification

After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive an HSE approved first aid at work certificate valid for three years.

This course is legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of this three day course, first aiders receive certification to allow them to practise for three years after which a re-qualification course becomes necessary. It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking an annual refresher.

First aid at work requalification

This course updates the first aid skills for people who need to renew their statutory first aid at work certificate and whose existing certificate is still valid.

The course includes an update of first aid knowledge and skills and a revision of workplace requirements.

Successful candidates receive the full HSE -approved First aid at work certificate valid for three years after completing a practical skills test.


Emergency first aid at work (HSE approved course)

The emergency first aid at work course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks.It includes basic life saving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations.

Nominated emergency first aiders, or anyone wanting a comprehensive one day first aid.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED)

This course teaches the essential skills required by an AED operator and gives students the confidence to know what to do in this kind of emergency. No previous first aid knowledge is necessary to attend an AED course.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in furthering their emergency aid skills, or takes part in an organised first aid scheme.

A half day course is available for candidates already holding a First Aid (CPR) certificate.

Anaphylaxis first aid

This course is for anyone who needs training in how and when to use an auto injector in the treatment of anaphylactic shock. It includes prevention, recognition and treatment of severe allergic reaction including the use of auto-injectors and CPR.

Who should attend?

With 40% of children now suffering from allergies, the ability to understand allergic conditions, and deal with sudden or severe symptoms is fast becoming an essential part of childcare. Workplace first aiders who have to deal with those prone to anaphylaxis should also attend.

This course develops a comprehensive range of skills in the administration of oxygen and/or analgesic gas.
